Pinocchio: The Original Story, Born in Florence

Carlo Lorenzini, better known by his pen name Carlo Collodi, is deeply connected to the city of Florence, where he was born on Via Taddea, in the historic San Lorenzo district.
It was here, in the heart of Tuscany, that the imagination behind Pinocchio first took shape.

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Collodi’s birth, Bottega Filistrucchi presents a special section of its online shop dedicated to Pinocchio and the characters of his timeless tale — a story written for children, yet still powerful and meaningful for adults today.

This collection features a curated selection of theatrical accessories and handcrafted pieces inspired by the world of Pinocchio, designed for the stage, performance, and celebration.
You will find the iconic Pinocchio noses in different lengths, the skull cap used to create the character, Geppetto’s wig (also known as Polendina, for its distinctive color), the masks of the Cat and the Fox, the wig of the Blue Fairy, Mangiafuoco’s long beard, masks for the Crows, the Rabbit’s nose and ears, and many other elements essential to bringing this classic story to life.

Throughout its long history, Bottega Filistrucchi has contributed to numerous important productions dedicated to Pinocchio, creating original characters, masks, wigs, and stage makeup.
Among them are the production by the Accademia dei Piccoli directed by Maestro Dino Parretti, first staged in 1983 at the Teatro Verdi in Florence and later revived in the 1990s under the direction of Loretta Bellesi Luzi; the musical Pinocchio by Natalia Valli, staged in 2006 in La Spezia; and the creation of theatrical makeup for the opera Pinocchio, Story of a Puppet by Maestro Aldo Tarabella, recently performed at the Teatro Pavarotti Freni in Modena.
